What clients and colleagues say about me PDF Print E-mail

For many years now, for me and for the Museum I direct, Harriet Graham has been our sole port of call for all our translations into English. I have therefore had many opportunities to appreciate her work, especially on themes strictly linked to our particular institutional sector of the mountains, rich in words and expressions for ‘experts’. Her work on the other themes that we also deal with is equally valid: photography, iconography, the cinema…

The quality of her work is always high and covers all aspects of book production ranging from delivery of translated texts up to proofreading the final layout for publication.

For ten years Harriet Graham has also been the prized translator of all the official documents of the International Alliance for Mountain Film, which has its headquarters in the Museum, and which unites 20 institutions, from 16 countries, on 4 continents.

I have had the pleasure of working closely with Harriet on a number of books. Her precision and rapidity are both equally impressive. I wouldn’t want to work on a book without her!

Harriet Graham is one of the great English-language editors in Italy. She’s not just my top choice but also that of the publishers I’ve talked to and who know the quality of her work. Having one’s translation edited by the wrong person can be very depressing indeed but what I’ve seen of Harriet’s work makes me realise how important the task of editing can be. I do my best to give her as few headaches as I can but I certainly feel reassured when I know she’ll be going over what I write.

We’ve known Harriet since our (literary) infancy. She has provided us with precise translations and/or copy-editing, working, if necessary, even on Sundays. But perhaps that is better left unsaid in case it reaches the ears of future clients... Thank you Harriet for having left the banks of the Thames for those of the Po.

As a graphic designer of books I find Harriet to be the ideal work companion: responsible, cooperative, practical. She identifies problems quickly and does not avoid them. She works with great enthusiasm, both in a team and alone. And to relieve the tension, she will always find the funny side of things and we’ll have a bit of a laugh....

Having worked with Harriet as my copy editor on a regular basis since 2003, I can only praise her professional, enthusiastic and efficient approach to her job. As an Italian-English translator for the art/architectural publishing industry in the UK, Switzerland and Italy, I work frequently with copy editors and know that Harriet’s fluency in Italian and her art background are an added bonus.
